Understanding the challenges the Indian infrastructure industry struggles with, and the value proposition it can derive from using digital twin technologies, Geospatial World, with its founding partner Autodesk, has established the Non-Executive Think Tank on Digital Twin Strategy for Indian Infrastructure from 2021-2025 to harness the true potential of Digital Twin in construction workflow processes through policy and strategy advocacy. The Think Tank membership is voluntarily for executives from the value chain of the AEC industry, including public policy agencies, infrastructure owners, technology providers, construction firms, system integrators, civil society organizations, and academia and research organizations.
Think Tank: Ecosystem and ObjectiveThink Tank
Digital Twin Strategy for Indian Infrastructure
OVERVIEW
At the helm of an enormous socio-economic transformation typified by rapid investments and growth in the infrastructure sector, the Indian economy is at the helm of a massive socio-economic transformation typified by rapid investments and growth. For India to sustain its transformation and its relative growth, the Government of India, under the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP), has made significant investments to build national infrastructure assets such as roads & highways, railways, airports, water infrastructure, etc. However, timely execution of projects within projected costs and desired quality continues to be a challenge in the country.
Challenges in Indian AEC industry
The harsh reality of the Indian infrastructure industry is that the value of core construction technologies – such as BIM and digital twin, is still highly under projected and marketed, especially by owners and constructions enterprises. While the value of BIM is quite well recognized in the planning and design phases, its true potential remains under harnessed in the construction and operational phase. This conundrum makes it necessary for project owners, technology providers, and the AEC ecosystem to collaborate and raise awareness and showcase the value proposition of Digital Twin technologies in the sub-continent.
Non-Executive Think Tank on
