Panel 2: Sovereign Space and Geospatial Infrastructure: Bane or Boon for Industry Growth

Session Highlight

Sovereign space and geospatial infrastructure are central to national security, data independence, and digital governance. However, questions arise-does growing state control accelerate innovation and industry growth, or constrain private enterprises in expanding its business globally? As India is surrounded by adverse neighbourhood and caught up in middle of global power politics, and has the responsibility to provide good governance, security, and well-being of almost 1.5 billion people, its quest for strengthening sovereign infrastructure and self-reliance is not only critical from security point of view but also in terms of productivity, efficiency, and scalability. Session would facilitate discussions to assess and analyse the advantages and disadvantages of growing focus on sovereign assets and its implications as a catalyst or constraint for industry competitiveness, innovation, and long-term sustainability.

Panel 6: Export of Geospatial Solutions and Services in Evolving World Order

Session Highlight

Export of geospatial solutions and services has been integral part of Indian geospatial industry. In fact, it may not be in appropriate to say that exports has been playing an enabling role in shaping the industry. As surveying and mapping was strictly restricted profession until 2020, Indian companies didn't have an opportunity to flourish domestically. Today, exports constitute big portion of Indian geospatial industry. However, technology innovations and trade practices have been challenging the growth patterns, wherein on the one hand, industry has to upskill itself to move up the value chain in AI and Autonomous age, and on the other hand, industry has to invest in localisation of its capabilities, making it difficult for staying competitive and qualitative at same time.
