In an exclusive interview with GeoBuiz, Dr. E.N. Rajagopal
Scientist-G & Head, NCMRWF, Ministry of Earth Sciences explains why is collaboration important for better weather forecast. NCMRWF gets data from NOAA, NASA and UMATSAT. We directly assimilate raw data by developing algorithm and convert it into information. Earlier we use to get 3D data, but now we receive 4D data. 4D data can be assimilated easily. With each 4D data we do lot of studies to see its impact

We are working with NOAA, MOES has signed MoU with met offices of Australia, New Zealand and Korea. Weather is a critical area which needs collaboration.
High resolution imagery is in demand. High resolution helps to find out ground truth. We already are in big data. We have to finally depend on dynamic models for weather forecasting
