The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs or UNOOSA launched the 2015 World’s Disaster Report at Vienna International centre in Austria. The report examines the complexities and challenges local actors face in scaling-up and sustaining their humanitarian response. It presents the case for a shift towards the “localization” of aid and more equal partnerships between international and local actors. Speaking during the launch event, Secretary General of Austrian Red Cross focussed towards a need in shift in funding emphasis to grow humanitarian action nationally, regionally and locally.
