People in the UK you have the power to make an informed decision while choosing your telecom service provider. UK telecom regulator Ofcom unveiled a telecom maps providing the detailed coverage maps of various Telcos and their services. Ranging from Mobile coverage, Infrastructure Maps 2014, Fixed Broadband etc. these maps would allows users to zoom to a specific location on UK map or simply enter a place name or postcode to receive data on the coverage for each mobile network.
Developed by map data and geospatial solutions provider Europa Technologies, this service helps consumers choose a service that best suits their needs. And since it also shows signal expectations for both indoor and outdoor environments, it will promote competition between mobile operators. Ofcom is urging users to check their coverage experience and leave feedback to improve the tool. The map received over 100,000 visits within the first 24 hours of its launch last week, and had to be dynamically scaled to meet the demand.
