A new technology project aims to map Auckland’s changing environment in real time, in a bid to tap into a multi-billion dollar export industry. The 3D mapping project will be produced by the new centre of Computational intelligence for environmental engineering launched by Unitec. The centre aims to develop new computing technologies to improve environmental engineering and to sell those technologies to the world. The centre’s first project will be to create a three dimensional digital model of Auckland which will be overlaid with real time environmental data.
