LiDAR, short for Light Detection and Ranging, is an active remote sensing method that uses pulsed laser light to measure distances. LiDAR has significant utility in surveying, provides visibility in challenging environments, such as dense forest canopies, and has capability of generating high-resolution digital elevation models with a vertical accuracy.
