Event company, ESM Productions has recognized the contribution of Bentley colleagues and technology advances, for planning of the visit of Pope Francis to Philadelphia in September 2015. This also includes the anchor event of the Eighth World Meeting of Families Congress. For this highly public and complex project, Bentley used ContextCapture software to build a detailed, photo-textured 3D ‘reality mesh’ model from 28,000 digital photographs, with geometrical accuracy. Pictometry acquired the base imagery, while AEROmetrex took high-resolution aerial images from helicopter. The precise 3D model was populated with 2D and 3D maps and designs. This resulted in a 28 GB dataset, which was used to communicate the details for 56,400 temporary structures, event seating, security requirements, traffic flows, and more.
