Space Integral to Luxembourg’s Economic Diversification: Marc Serres, CEO, Luxembourg Space Agency

The Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA) was created five years ago, mandated by the government to support the country’s economic diversification. LSA promotes the commercial space sector by providing support to the space industry, fostering new and existing businesses, developing human resources, offering access to financial solutions, and supporting academic learning and research.

“We also cover international engagement in the space domain. Over the years, there has been an ongoing trend towards a service-driven approach in the space sector. Many space agencies also prefer to buy technologies rather than develop their own systems, which is very interesting. NASA is already doing that in many component programs. This, in turn, is also helping companies. The long tradition of space has been financing by government agencies and the defense community, so there are challenges in commercialization because often it is not easy, and there are some perception issues as well,” says Marc Serres, CEO of Luxembourg Space Agency.
