As a pivotal facet of the Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB) process, it is imperative that the industry bestows advanced Space Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, thereby augmenting the potency of forces at pivotal junctures on the battlefield.
This can be attained through the utilization of cutting-edge technologies such as satellite imagery, radar, and signals intelligence to scrutinize the environment and detect potential threats.
In the contemporary era, where the magnitude and intricacy of INT data impede the expeditious identification and mitigation of security threats, analytics and AI are assuming an indispensable role in extracting national security intelligence from voluminous information to provide valuable insights for uncovering potential security intel.
Why intelligentization?
As IPB is a systematic, continuous process of analysing the threat and environment in a specific geographic area. It is designed to support staff estimates and military decision making. Applying the IPB in battle helps the commander selectively apply and maximise his combat.
Brigadier Anshuman Narang, Author and ISR domain expert talked about how space provides unmatched & restricted capabilities for IPB, most advanced COP; and Indian CNPโs backbone across DIME at DefSat, Indiaโs first International Defence and Space conference and expo on Friday the 28th.
He talked about the Power of Data and how important and interconnected the Interoperability and Policy aspects are for the end user of the data.
There is shortage of skilled talent at every level and Data aggregation can ensure Machine Learning but not ensure human domain specialisation.
Adding onto the talk Tobby Simons, Founder and President of the Synergia Foundation talked about how the aspect of human intelligence should never be taken away from the battlefield, and that military should focus on the democratization of the decisions and moving onto the battlefield of the virtual cloud.
This harkens back to what Shri S. Somanath, Secretary Department of Space and Chairman, ISRO talked about in the inaugural session of the day. He talked about how Space Strategic Capability is essential for a nation like India and how necessary it is to scale up the process of launching satellites.
He also emphasized on how cost of access to the space sector has to be brought down and how there is extreme need of reusable systems.
