Singapore-based Robotics Firm has Big Plans for India

Robotics

FJ Dynamics, a Singapore-based global robotics company which is into infrastructure, precision farming, and others, has recently started operations in India.

In an interview with Geospatial World, Dev Biswas, Regional Sales Manager – South Asia- FJ Dynamics speaks about the growth trajectory of geospatial technologies in Southeast Asia, and in what all Indian projects can FJ Dynamics be a part of.

Excerpts

What encouraged you to enter into the Indian market? What opportunities do you foresee?

Well, as you know, the slam integrated LiDAR market is growing and we can’t be far behind being in India. We are already a trillion dollar economy, and scientifically we have progressed. We have touched down on the moon, the certain color of the moon, and so the acceptance of the technology is on the rise and we can’t be left behind not to launch our products and services in India. India is a growing market, of course, and by some estimates the slam integrated LiDAR market is more than 500 billion dollar. So that is the projection. And India cannot be far behind India. India is a big country, and there’s a lot of work going on, that’s why we feel that we should be here.

A lot of things have changed in the last 10 years or so for India because the government wants everything to be based on the geospatial data. And recently the government published a national gazette where they have instructed or requested all major stakeholders of the industry to go as per the gazette and allow everything to be done on the basis of geospatial data. So this is why we feel that it is very important to democratize the data and that can be done if we are able to deliver high quality data at a reasonable cost and help small and big surveyors and companies in the same way and help them achieve their ROI.

What do you feel about the trajectory of geospatial technologies in Southeast Asia?

Well, it is showing an upward trend, of course, because if we see down the line 10 years ago, we couldn’t have imagined so much of so many participants coming from all across the globe to attend a Geospatial World event because I was associated through my other companies, of course, with IGIF since its inception almost, and I am into this industry for 20 years last, and there was not even one that I missed attending this event. Over the period of time, we have seen that companies like big companies, multinationals are coming and demonstrating their products and services in geospatial world. So Geospatial World is a mirror of what is happening in the industry. So if you can attend this event and you know that it is growing, the event is growing, the people, the participant companies are more. So that’s how, that could be one of the parameters to understand the growth trajectory in this region.

If you could touch upon what are the new projects that FJ Dynamics is a part of or there are projects in the pipeline?

Well, there are several projects from new infrastructure, bridges, dams, buildings new roads like, the Bharatmala projects, the government of India has a priority to connect India through the roads. There’s a lot of work going on in the railways infrastructure as a whole, it’s a priority for the government to develop a local Indian infrastructure. So anything that comes on this, of course gives us an idea about how that growth is going to be. Other than this, the mining segment has seen much more, it has developed a lot of mining activities going on. So that’s another big segment where we think our products will be very useful.
