Wayfinder and MapmyIndia in cooperation to provide Navigation solutions in India

Stockholm, Sweden, 23 May 2007: MapmyIndia has signed an agreement with Wayfinder to provide with access to its digital map data covering India. The agreement enables Wayfinder to deliver mobile navigation and location based services in India.

Wayfinder will start the services covering the entire country along with detailed city coverage of 20 major metropolitan areas initially and by year-end it has plans to cover all other major cities with the help of data from MapmyIndia which has the detailed coverage for over 150 major cities in India.

According to every month an additional 6 million mobile subscribers will be added in India and at present there are approximately 160 million subscribers and Wayfinder wants to take the advantage of the growing Mobile Market.

“The cooperation with MapmyIndia has started at the fastest possible pace and the fact that we have an exclusive agreement is very important and gives us a great lead over any competitor in the field,” says Magnus Nilsson, CEO, at Wayfinder Systems.

“After the launch of MapmyIndia.com in 2004, we realised that the demand for navigation solutions in India are substantial. In the process of identifying the best applications for server based mobile navigation, we found that Wayfinder has what is required for success in India,” says Rakesh Verma, Managing Director , at MapmyIndia.
