Stevenage,UK, August 9, 2007: Digital mapping and GIS software developer Cadcorp announced that its business partner in the Netherlands, Vicrea Solutions BV, has recently won contracts from several Dutch municipalities to supply and implement Vicrea’s Geo Vastgoed Registraties (GVR) application, which has been developed using Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System.
Recent government legislation in the Netherlands has made municipalities responsible and accountable for registering and maintaining accurate information relating to the land, property and associated address information within their administrative boundaries. In response to this, Vicrea developed its GVR application to enable the creation, management and maintenance of both the spatial and the administrative data within a unified spatial database. The application uses Cadcorp SIS to provide integrated geospatial functionality.
A number of municipalities, both large and small, throughout the Netherlands have recently implemented Vicrea’s GVR to enable them to fulfil their legal requirements under the new government legislation. These include Utrecht, Nijmegen, Arnhem, Tilburg, Leiden, Den Haag and Alkmaar. Several others are currently in the process of installing and implementing the system.
“The main benefit to municipalities of selecting GVR is the integration of spatial and non-spatial data, allowing highly sophisticated manipulation of data, both alphanumeric and geographic. Furthermore, it allows complex spatial queries of the database without users needing to know or to look for spatial relationships in the data. This saves time and reduces the possibility of errors occurring”, said Gerard Hagen, managing diretor, Vicrea Solutions BV. “The system is also easy to learn and easy to use”, he added.
