Texas City has selected Velocitie Integration, Inc. for GIS planning, data migration and implementation services. To provide the City with accurate GIS implementation estimates, Velocitie performed an analysis of the City’s GIS data and current GIS environment to prepare budgetary estimates and an implementation plan for the Department of Public Works (DPW) project. DPW received budget approval from the City and plans to migrate to an ArcSDE geodatabase and implement ESRI’s ArcGIS for managing their water, wastewater and storm drain facilities.
Located 18 miles southwest of downtown Dallas, Texas is experiencing rapid commercial and residential growth. Serving a population of nearly 40,000, the DPW includes operations for engineering; fleet management; and water, wastewater, and storm drain facilities management. DPW’s Director, Ruth Antebi-Guten, looks forward to extending the GIS’ capabilities to leverage the asset information in the GIS to improve DPW’s asset management, work force management and, most importantly, customer service.
The current phase of the project involves the following activities:
· Project management and implementation planning.
· Defining the parcel, street centerline, water, wastewater, and storm drain GIS data, domain, connectivity, annotation, and symbology requirements.
· Developing the data models and geodatabase designs.
· Preprocessing data to correct connectivity and data errors.
· Migrating DPW’s existing GIS data to the ArcGIS geodatabase.
· Implementing ArcSDE to manage the DPW’s water, wastewater, and storm drain data.
