Alberta, Canada, 02 May 2007: Valtus Imagery Services announced that its imagery library in Southern Alberta has been updated. Approximately 650 townships or 65,000 km2 covering all of Southern Alberta is now available on-line. The imagery, collected in the summer of 2006, is 40cm resolution true colour orthoimagery and was collected with the Leica ADS40 sensor.

The Valtus Imagery Services online database currently holds approximately 2 million square kilometers of high resolution imagery across Canada and the United States. Valtus provides stream imagery directly into GIS and CAD Applications.

“We continue to update the Valtus data base with newer and higher resolution imagery. This large program is the beginning of a systematic update program for our entire data base. And based on direction from our customers. All new imagery added to the library will be 50cm or better resolution based on feedback from our customers. This update program has begun in the south and will continue north in 2007 and beyond”says Tim Crago, Vice President of Valtus Imagery Services. “All of North West’s ADS40 imagery sensors have been upgraded to this second generation technology and will be deployed for the 2007 acquisition program”.

The higher resolution imagery being collected by North West is being supported with a higher density auto-correlated digital surface model to facilitate the newer imagery. In subsequent years, North West’s LiDAR DEM will be used for the rectification process.

Valtus Imagery Services is a Geospatial Storage Service Provider delivering imagery from its online library. Valtus’ technology utilizes open GIS protocols to allow high-resolution aerial and satellite imagery to be stored, managed and viewed instantly through a wide range of industry standard web-mapping products and desktop applications.
