US: Comtech Telecommunications has been awarded a contract to continue support for the US Army's Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Blue-Force tracking (BFT)-1 programme.
Under the additional contract, which takes the total value of the original award to USD 68.5 million, the company will continue to provide sustainment support for the programme. The funding includes USD 10 million for the army to continue to licence certain of the company's BFT-1 intellectual property, with the remaining funding designated for engineering services and satellite network operations, where the company is paid on a cost-plus-fixed-fee basis, and programme management services, which if paid for on a firm-fixed-price basis.
According to the company’s press release, the BFT-1 programme is a battle-command real-time situational awareness and control system that provides military commanders and forces with location information about friendly and hostile forces.
