3 April 2006: A team of researchers from the Department of Plant Biology and Ecology at the University of the Basque Country (EHU-UPV) has initiated an investigation aided by GPS to collect data on the trees and other plants around the Urdaibai estuary to judge the quality of this ecosystem as well as how to unite the quality of the ecosystem and its management. The first step will be a thorough mapping of the area. Also being used are aerial photographs and photograms from the regional government of Bizkaia.
