UK: Map data and geospatial solutions provider Europa Technologies has deployed a unique coverage map service for UK telecommunications regulator, Ofcom. Users can zoom to a specific location on a UK map, or simply enter a place name or postcode, to receive data on coverage for each mobile network. The new map will help consumers to choose a service that best suits their needs. And since it also shows signal expectations for both indoor and outdoor environments, it will promote competition between mobile operators. Ofcom is urging users to check their coverage experience and leave feedback to improve the tool. The map received over 100,000 visits within the first 24 hours of its launch last week, and had to be dynamically scaled to meet the demand.
