Ontario, Canada, 27 March 2007: Truckee Donner Public Utility District of California was awarded the GITA “Excellence in GIS for Enterprise Electric Utility” award for their outstanding geospatial technology applications. The 2007 Excellence Award was presented during the opening session of GITA’s 29th Annual Conference, held on March 4, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas, USA. This award recognizes accomplishments of organizations that serve as examples of quality service through the success of their geospatial projects.
Truckee Donner Public Utility District (TDPUD), located in Northern California, USA, is a North American leader in utility oriented GIS implementations. The TDPUD offers electric and water service in the Truckee area and is a non-profit, publicly owned utility governed by officials elected by registered voters of the District. Truckee Donner had demonstrated high degree of initiative and innovation in implementing multifaceted geospatial systems that incorporate multiple applications by using ESRI’s ArcGIS software suite and Orion’s OnPoint software for Web-GIS applications.
TDPUD’s intranet site, powered by OnPoint™ Web-GIS provides an integrated, single point of access to the organization’s spatial and non-spatial data using the combined power of OnPoint™ and ESRI’s ArcIMS. Employees can find relevant street or customer information quickly, generate a customized map, and incorporate the map into a report. Site administrators can easily update ArcSDE database and manage the data as required. Other benefits have included quick implementation time, simple yet powerful web-based administration and application development, multi-level joining across multiple data sources and real time data sharing between field, office and dispatch personnel.
