Trimble introduces new Laser Control System for the Dozer market

2 Minutes Read

Trimble introduced the GCS400 ยพ a laser-based machine control system that simultaneously controls lift and tilt of a dozer blade. Ideal for both small and large contractors using dozers for earthmoving and road construction, the GCS400 delivers greater jobsite efficiency, easier operation, more consistent accuracy and reduced costs.
The announcement was made today at INTERMAT, one of the world’s largest exhibitions for the civil engineering and construction industries. Developed by the Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies LLC joint venture, the GCS400 represents the next generation of Trimble laser-based machine control solutions built on Controller Area Network (CAN) interface. First introduced in the Trimble GCS21, the CAN interface provides contractors with plug-and-play flexibility allowing them to utilize different laser and control components to best meet the needs of the job.

In addition to simultaneously controlling a dozerโ€™s lift and tilt functions from a single box, a key advantage of the GSC400 system is the option to select from two elevation control modes. One is โ€œindependent mode,โ€ which allows the operator to control the lift and tilt functions independently from each other. The other is โ€œlinked mode,โ€ which ties the lift and tilt functions together, allowing the operator to maintain the blade parallel to the laser beam. With this unique feature, the system then treats the two masts as one, setting them at the same elevation and allowing the operator to simply adjust grade through the use of one switch.

Trimble’s new GCS400 system will be available in the third quarter through Trimble’s Geomatics and Engineering Division dealer network. The combination of Trimble and Spectra Precision, the world leaders in GPS, construction lasers, robotic total stations and machine control solutions, is creating a broad range of innovative solutions that will change the way construction work is done. The Geomatics and Engineering Division of Trimble is focusing on the development of technology and solutions in the core areas of machine control, surveying, and construction instruments. From concept to completion, Trimble’s integrated systems streamline jobs and improve productivity. Trimble is a leading innovator of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. In addition to providing advanced GPS components, Trimble augments GPS with other positioning technologies as well as wireless communications and software to create complete customer solutions.
