Dubai, UAE, 8 August 2007: A three day training on GIS Standards and Interoperability was organised by GIS Development from 5 to 7 August 2007 at Le Meriden Hotel, Dubai UAE.
Explaining the utility of such an event, the participants applauded the efforts of the Organisers.
A participant from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority sais that the training was “a step towards building an excellent geospatial world.”
Mr. Anil Kumar from Environment Agency, Abu Dhabi said, “ The course was very elaborate suitable for a wide range of audience from developers involved in web enabling spatial data and services to Senior Managers who wants to have a good understanding of the various solution available.”
The Course Instructors for the training were: Mr. Ron Lake (CEO and Chairman, Galdos Systems Inc); Mr. Sam Bacharach (OGC Representative); and Prof. A. R. Dasgupta (Honory Advisor, GIS Development).
The programme concentrated on understanding the elements which are required to enable geospatial interoperability within the organizations and working analysis for geospatial interoperability vocabulary, standards and technologies, for rapid implementation of spatial components in applications.
The training also delved upon Data or Data Access to deal with data modeling and encoding; Coordinate/spatial reference systems; Metadata and catalog Access; Geoprocessing Services; Maps and visualization; Knowledge of GML and building GML Application Schema and OGC GML standards. It also touched upon KML and GEO RSS.
It had a total of 21 participants, which included Directors and senior officers from the following organisations.
