US: Topcon Positioning Group has announced the release of two unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for — the Sirius Pro and Sirius Basic for mapping. Both systems are designed to produce the most accurate solutions for the automated mapping of a diverse types of sites including construction sites, mines and quarries, besides use in precision agriculture field mapping, land surveying, power line and pipeline inspection.
The fixed-wing systems resulted from a partnership with MAVinci GmbH, with which Topcon recently partnered for a worldwide distribution agreement.
Eduardo Falcon, executive vice president and general manager for the Topcon GeoPositioning Solutions Group, said, “The Sirius Pro system is unique to the UAS marketplace. Instead of using traditional ground control points, Topcon combines RTK (Real Time Kinematic) GNSS solutions with precision timing technology to provide more accurate mapping results when compared to other products."
The Topcon Sirius Basic is an entry-level system offering many of the advantages of the Sirius Pro with options to upgrade for increases productivity and accuracy.
Both systems also offer automatic flight planning, autopilot assisted manual control and safety features.
