< 1 Minute Read

UK: thinkWhere has recently announced the start of a four-year contract with Leicestershire County Council to deliver the company’s location centre online GIS product to council staff. Leicestershire County Council is responsible for providing vital services to the 650,000 people that live and work in the area. An outdated GIS is already used in the Council by a number of different services. The introduction of thinkWhere’s innovative online GIS product, Location Centre, will replace the existing map viewer, generating cost savings and efficiencies as well as widening the access and use of location-based information throughout the Council.

Location Centre is built from the leading Open Source technologies and is provided as a Cloud-based product. This enables easy access to GIS by any user with access to a web browser and reduces any IT dependencies to a bare minimum. thinkWhere’s managed services cover all the hosting, infrastructure management, application support and the maintenance of all Ordnance Survey map datasets, reducing existing costs for the Council. As well as providing an intuitive web GIS browser for use by Council staff, Location Centre will also enable the integration of web mapping on public websites and the publishing of data services to integrate mapping into third party business systems, including desktop GIS.
