Telcontar releases Traffic Manager 3.0 for traffic-enabling of LBS

< 1 Minute Read

Telcontar, the suppliers of software and related services for the Location-Based Services (LBS) industry, have announced the release of Traffic Manager 3.0 for seamlessly integrating real-time traffic flow and incident information into LBS. Coupled with Telcontarโ€™s Drill Down Server (DDS) geo-spatial software platform, Traffic Manager 3.0 can significantly augment the value of Internet-based mapping, directions and local search as well as mobile phone-based navigation, and Telematics applications.

Traffic Manager is designed to support traffic incident and flow information from multiple traffic data feed suppliers. The first release of Traffic Manager 3.0 supports real-time traffic incident data from NAVTEQ for over 20 major metropolitan areas throughout the US. It also supports traffic feed providers in Europe.

LBS service providers can now take Traffic Manager and easily incorporate it into their existing offerings and go a step further to customize the service according to their users needs. Incidents can be displayed on a map, routes can be generated based on current traffic flow and new alternate routes can be produced based on real-time incident information or a specified user profile. The platform has the capability to easily and quickly process all of this information in real-time, making the end user experience seamless, reliable and accurate. Additionally, independent LBS application developers can utilize these capabilities to enhance the power and differentiation of the applications they seek to take to market.
