India: Survey of India (SoI) is celebrating its 250 anniversary this year. And therefore, the agency is organising a National Conference on Usersโ Perspective to Geospatial Policy Framework on 10th April 2017 at Federation House, I, Tansen Marg, in association with FICCI.
The event will also witness the inauguration of Nakshe portal. A web application developd by SoI, in association with NIC Uttarkhand State Unit, Nakshe is a free download of Open Series Maps in PDF format for public use. This web application had been developed based on the idea suggested by Union min of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Harsh Vardhan.
In line with the Governmentโs objective of Digital India, SoI has incorporated Aadhar based user authentication to ensure that genuine users can make full and free use of our maps. Established in 1767, Survey of India is one of the oldest survey establishments in the world and is the Principal Mapping Agency and the Oldest Scientific Department in India.
