Nigeria: The government has announced that Geographical Information System (GIS), Management Information System (MIS) and other Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) will be deployed to effectively monitor and evaluate the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P).

The resolution was passed after a three-day Monitoring and Evaluation Workshop Retreat for the programme which was attended by committee members, directors of project implementation units and other officials. The attendees also agreed the SURE-P and National Planning Commission (NPC) should collaborate with the Public Information Unit (PIU) at the Federal Ministry of Information for effective dissemination to the Nigerian public.

SURE-P is a committee set up by Nigeria in order to ensure proper management of the funds that would accrue to the Federal Government from the partial withdrawal of subsidy.
