Russia: ScanEx Research and Development Center together with its partners have created a technology of near real-time preparation and delivery of three types of geo-information products to the customers based on the processed radar imagery:

โ€ข oil spills vector map;
โ€ข shipping situation vector map indicating ships coordinates;
โ€ข current ice situation map and ice forecasts (for next 1-5 days).

The specifics of ScanExโ€™s solutions are in application of local technology innovations in reception and processing of satellite imagery, acquired from RADARSAT-1 and ENVISAT-1, equipped with all-weather highly-detailed radars. Images from these satellites cover areas from 50×50 km to 500×500 km with spatial resolution of 8 to 10 m.

Ice maps, created after highly-detailed radar images processing, reflect the ice cover status and its characteristics (consolidation, age, shape, ice edge position and boundaries of homogenous ice zones, channels and water-lead locations).
