Russia: Satellite imagery has revealed bacterial contamination in the tributaries of the Angara River. Experts have found that the gold mines in the Krasnoyarsk region are the source of contamination.
Experts analysed satellite imagery taken in July-August. They found that the contaminated water was whiter and more reflective because of the large amount of suspended solids. Browder and Big Murozhnaya are the worst hit tributaries.
