< 1 Minute Read

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has decided to adopt U.S. Trimble Navigation Ltd.’s global positioning system (GPS) time/frequency receivers for its next-generation CDMA base stations, which will be used by KDDI Corp.’s mobile network.

Incorporating Trimble’s receivers will make it possible to control accurate transmission timing to synchronize among Samsung’s base stations. Also, the Korean electronics company will provide KDDI with mobile phone networks equipment other than base stations. KDDI plans to start upgrading its existing cdma2000 1X networks and introduce CDMA2000 1X EV-DO devices.
