SafeAI teams up with Obayashi for pilot autonomous construction project

< 1 Minute Read

SafeAI recently announced the launch of an autonomous construction site and that they have joined hands with Obayashi Corporation. They will kick off a pilot program this November in collaboration with Obayashi. In this project a Caterpillar 725 articulated dump truck will autonomously complete a vital on-site function: load-haul-dump cycles.

Autonomous heavy equipment offers a safer, more productive solution for the construction industry as a whole. The SafeAI team is propelling the industry forward as efficiently and seamlessly as possible by retrofitting existing fleets of industrial equipment with its autonomy platform. In doing so, theyโ€™re also paving the way for the future of autonomous technology outside of on-road vehicles.

SafeAI quoted Hiroto Sato, COO of Obayashi SVVL (Silicon Valley Ventures & Laboratory) as saying in a blog post that they are investing in autonomous solutions that they believe will play a critical role in their success both in the near term and also down the road. SafeAI has successfully built a powerful autonomous ecosystem that ushers in safer, more productive worksites. He further added that throughout their partnership, they look forward to building operational and organizational structure to support this pilot and more deployments like it in the future.
