Rolta targets Asia Pacific to beat domestic revenue slide

Mumbai, 20 March 2007:: Rolta India Ltd Mumbai-based geospatial and engineering design firm, is foraying into newer markets and expanding presence in Asia Pacific.

The company has plans to establish new subsidiary companies in the Asia Pacific region. Towards this, it will set up subsidiaries in Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Australia.

Another UK development and delivery centre is being planned with an investment of £25 million. The centre will open next fiscal. Apart from the UK, Rolta has development centres in the US, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, UAE and India.

Rolta’s revenue from Indian market has declined to 59% in 2005-06 from 65% in 2003-04. The share of the domestic market in total revenues would come down to 40-45% within the next 2-3 years.

Hiranya Ashar, CFO, Rolta India, said, “The company wants to move up the value chain and has aggressive expansion plans. We are opening the Qatar and Abu Dhabi subsidiaries in the next two quarters, whereas the Australia subsidiary will happen next fiscal.”
