South Africa: The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform in South Africa has conducted a one-week Web Mapping Training in conjunction with RCMRD, from 15th to 19th August, 2016 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The training participants were drawn from the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform and other government agencies. The Training was designed to give participants an easy transition from the commonly used GIS desktop programs such as QGIS and ArcGIS to the basic principles of Geospatial data management and publishing.
Participants were also taken through the fundamentals of web design using HTML, CSS and JavaScript in-addition to building customized web GIS applications. The training was facilitated by Ngugi Kimani and Patrick Kabatha from RCMRD.
