In an effort to further expand the coverage of geotechnologies for developers, users and vendors, Professional Surveyors Publishing Co., Inc. has announced the acquisition of GIS Monitor, a weekly electronic newsletter and the Ultimate Map/GIS Directory from TenLinks, Inc. GIS Monitor editor Adena Schutzberg will continue to write for the newsletter.

โ€œBy investing in Adenaโ€™s vision, we can more effectively promote the relationship between the land surveying and GIS communities. Bringing Professional Surveyor and GIS Monitor together sparks an exciting synergy. Weโ€™re pleased to work with Adena to take the GIS Monitor to the next level,โ€ says Allen Cheves, associate publisher of Professional Surveyor.

GIS Monitor is published weekly to more than 6,000 subscribers, every Thursday. The newsletter will include new features and an enhanced layout in the coming weeks. Content will continue to focus on analysis of the technology and business of geospatial products and services including reviews, predictions and candid interviews. TenLinkโ€™s Ultimate Map/GIS Directory, which categorizes thousands of articles, websites and resources for GIS users, will become part of Professional Surveyorโ€™s Web presence.

Schutzberg notes, โ€œIโ€™ve been a fan of Professional Surveyor for years, selecting it as the top GIS magazine of 2000. The GIS, GPS, surveying, location-based services and other industries are regularly redefining themselves. To make sense of the changes, industry professionals need more than a statement of what is going on; they need analysis and interpretation. I look forward to the opportunity to grow GIS Monitor from its new home with Professional Surveyor.โ€
