US: POWER Engineers has awarded a contract to Madison Gas & Electric (MGE) to provide services for its GIS Strategic Planning project.ย  MGE is replacing its GIS based on a Needs Assessment and Implementation Plan developed by POWER and MGE in 2014.

POWER is partnering with MGE internal resources to meet the project objectives for the next generation GIS and system integration through GIS needs assessment, RFP development, vendor selection, software setup and configuration, technical development, change management support, data quality review, and system testing coordination.

Initially, POWER provided strategic consulting services to assist MGE in the selection of the software platform for outage management, mobile support and network design. POWERโ€™s current role is to advise MGE through the GIS implementation to ensure the replacement system is implemented in an effective manner that meets current needs and lays the foundation for the expansion of GIS throughout MGE.

POWER Project Manager Glenn Farrow said: โ€œThis partnership with MGE represents the type of relationship we develop with our clients and the level of commitment we make โ€“ from project inception to completion. We look forward to maintaining a trusted advisor role as we work closely with MGE to deliver a new GIS solution that meets current and future requirements and opens up new business opportunities.โ€

โ€œWe are pleased to continue our business partnership with POWER. To date, they have helped us plan for our GIS project.ย  POWERโ€™s consultants have provided valuable insight. We look forward to their continued support on the project,โ€ said Greg Meyer, Director of Electric Engineering and Operations Support at MGE.
