Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions and Z/I Imaging Corporation, an Intergraph Company, announced that an educational software grant has been awarded to Montana State University (Bozeman, MT) for use in its photogrammetry laboratory and Civil Engineering undergraduate and masterโs curriculums. Solutions from Z/I Imaging and Intergraph will bolster Montana State Universityโs offerings in photogrammetry-supported land surveying using Z/I Imagingโs ImageStation softcopy photogrammetric software. Included in the grant is the full suite of ImageStation products and Intergraphโs GeoMedia, which will facilitate a fully digital workflow for photogrammetric data acquisition, processing and analysis. The grant allows civil engineering students at Montana State University to enter the workforce armed with the training and skills needed to ensure highly accurate land surveying using digital photogrammetric technology.
As part of their degree program, students can choose the universityโs photogrammetry course as a professional elective in the Civil Engineering Department. In a traditional mapping project for the class, students cover the entire photogrammetric process to produce digital orthos. The coursework will now include a fully digital workflow with project planning, collection of features and digital terrain models, orientation and triangulation, topography, TIN creation and orthorectification and mosaicking. Beginning this fall, the course will take full advantage of the accuracy offered by the ImageStation products over the previously taught method using analytical workflow.
