Pacific GeoTech Systems Ltd. of Canada has launched “Mineral Titles Online” (MTO), an Internet-based mineral titles administration system that allows mineral exploration industry to acquire and maintain mineral titles by selecting the area on a seamless digital GIS map of British Columbia, Canada and pay the associated fees electronically. Since MTO went live on January 12, 2005, the government is able to process mineral/placer claims in a highly efficient and cost effective manner.
MTO allows enables free miners to acquire mineral rights by selecting a claim on a map on a computer screen, rather than by staking a claim on the ground. This enables them to focus their resources on the ground exploration rather than on staking. The MTO system is operational 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Pacific GeoTech Systems Ltd. has also announced the release of “Petroleum Titles On-Line” (PTO) system. The integrated system developed by the B.C. Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) and the B.C. Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management (MSRM), facilitates petroleum tenure-related transactions through the Internet.
PTO was developed to allow interested parties to view maps of petroleum and natural gas tenures in conjunction with other related base-mapping data and obtain reports of specific tenure information. Also, PTO allows interested parties to select parcels of Crown petroleum and natural gas rights on an interactive map for inclusion in one of the B.C. Titles Division’s monthly dispositions of petroleum and natural gas rights using an Internet map selection tool.
