Pacific Gas and Electric company chooses Impress Software

Massachussets, USA, 09 April 2007: Impress Software, a provider of packaged integration applications today announced that Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has chosen its Impress for GIS packaged integration application as part of a strategic Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) initiative. Impress for GIS was selected to synchronize PG&E’s asset data in SAP with geo-data in its ESRI and Miner & Miner geographic information systems (GIS). Once the implementation is completed, PG&E expects to have approximately 10,000 users leveraging Impress for GIS.

PG&E is one of the largest combined natural gas and electric utilities in the United States. The company, a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation, serves approximately 15 million people throughout a 70,000-square-mile service area in northern and central California.

Accenture was an advisor to PG&E in its purchase of Impress for GIS and will lead the implementation.

Impress for GIS:
Impress for GIS is a packaged integration application optimized for bridging SAP with ESRI’s ArcGIS and Miner & Miner’s ArcFM. It automatically links SAP assets with GIS features and maintains asset consistency at all times, dramatically reducing data administration costs while ensuring asset data accuracy. With Impress for GIS, users can create work orders and notifications, update status information, and assign orders to features on a map.
