Germany: The Open Source Geospatial Foundation, or OSGeo has unveiled OSGeo-Live V 9.0 at at this year’s INTERGEO. The open source software is a self-contained bootable DVD, USB thumb drive or Virtual Machine based on Lubuntu, which allows users to try a wide variety of open source geospatial software without installing anything. It contains free software, allowing it to be freely distributed, duplicated and passed around. The new version of OSGeo also features pre-configured applications for a range of geospatial use cases, including storage, publishing, viewing, analysis and manipulation of data.
