12 May 2006 – ORBIT Geospatial Technologies announced the availability of the free Orbit FlashMap Lite 4.2. Available for all popular platforms, the free OFM Lite allows small offices and corporate departments to publish geodata in seconds. OFM Lite is free for Windows, Linux and Unix platforms.
Orbit FlashMap Lite is a size and user limited version of Orbit FlashMap, with identical capabilities as its high volume peers. Version 4.2 contains many configurable items and a full public API to embed and control the map client. API documentation is online available from the orbitgis.com knowledge base. The OFM product package includes server-side and client-side software, and a development ‘cockpit’ sample application in Flash.
Orbit FlashMap natively supports a wide range of vector and raster data, up to terabytes of imagery including SID and ECW files and Orbit’s platform independent OMI format. A free conversion utility comes with Orbit GIS.
