Canada: The city of Kingston’s GIS department has launched a new mapping tool to offer local geographical information to its residents. The information includes construction projects that are underway in Kingston.
This first map of construction projects gives a visual overview of where construction is taking place all over Kingston. The mapping tool features all the planned projects up to 2014. The online map displays road projects in red, sidewalk projects in yellow, and cycling projects in green. Utilities Kingston’s projects are shown in blue and projects by Kingston Hydro are in magenta. The map also reveals future installation of street benches. The GIS department will soon launch an application to provide an easy way to find nearby city facilities as well as obtaining location-based information about city services.
