NUVIEW Named to TIME’S List of the Best Inventions of 2023

< 1 Minute Read

NUVIEW, which is building the world’s first commercial LiDAR satellite constellation, has secured a well-deserved spot on TIME’s Best Inventions of 2023 list. NUVIEW was honored in the experimental category.

“Lidar technology has immense potential to empower global climate initiatives and contribute to a sustainable future. We are honored to be awarded as one of TIME’s extraordinary innovations changing lives.” says Clint Graumann, CEO and Co-Founder of NUVIEW.

NUVIEW is revolutionizing the Earth observation industry by building the premier commercial satellite constellation dedicated to annually mapping the planet’s entire land surface using LiDAR technology. Their cutting-edge data will enable accurate and real-time monitoring of forests, wetlands, and other ecosystems. It aims to facilitate the assessment of vegetation density, biomass estimation, and ecosystem health, supporting conservation efforts and informing sustainable land management practices.

To compile the list, TIME solicits nominations from editors and correspondents around the world, and through an online application process, paying special attention to growing fields—such as AI, green energy, and sustainability.

They then evaluate each contender on a number of key factors, including originality, efficacy, ambition, and impact. NUVIEW stood out, not only for its cutting-edge technology but also for its commitment to making a meaningful impact by creating high-resolution 3D maps that offer critical insights for urban planning, transportation management, and infrastructure development.

Of the new list, TIME’s editors write: “The result is a list of 200 groundbreaking inventions (and 50 special mention inventions) – including the world’s most powerful supercomputer, a game-changing entertainment venue, and a new shape – that are changing how we live, work, play, and think about what’s possible.”
