Northrop Grumman to provide GPS technology to various branches

US: Northrop Grumman has been awarded a US Air Force contract for embedded global positioning/inertial navigation systems. Under the indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract, worth up to $200 million, Northrop Grumman will offer a variety of fiber-optic gyro-based navigation systems to the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard as well as foreign nations, according to a Northrop Grumman announcement. The contract provides for EGI sales to Iraq and Thailand. The contract runs through December 2018.

Northrop Grumman is offering products such as the LN-251 and LN-260 EGI systems, as well as integration, modernization and spare parts. "We are offering the highest performance technology at very affordable prices. Additionally, this contract gives customers the flexibility to respond to emerging needs, leading to greater mission effectiveness and the best value," said Bob Mehltretter, vice president of navigation and positioning systems for Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems.
