Bayelsa: Just two days after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) launched Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping of all financial access points in the country, the Nigerian state Bayelsa has taken an initiative to develop its own geographic information system (BGIS).
The Bayelsa State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sivan Design to develop its geographic information system, (BGIS). The state administration believes that the project when completed would go a long way in enhancing on-going efforts to beautify the capital city of Yenagoa. Speaking at the MOU signing ceremony, Governor Seriake Dickson said that the project will facilitate the growth of critical infrastructure in the state and will also increase government’s capacity in driving its tax policy. The administration believes that the project will also speed up the process of certifying titles to owners of landed property in the state. The project will also offer complementary services such as aerial mapping.
