Once again states are proving they are savvy when it comes to using digital technologies to improve the delivery of services and information to citizens. The increasing sophistication of state’s digital technologies was supported by the latest results from one of the nation’s most prestigious and comprehensive studies — the 2002 Digital State Survey, Part 1 Social Services and Law Enforcement and the Courts. Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Virginia and Washington all shared the No. 1 ranking for social services, and Colorado Kansas, and Wisconsin shared the No. 1 ranking for law enforcement and the courts.
Conducted by the Centre for Digital Government and the Progress and Freedom Foundation, the fifth annual Digital State Survey is produced in three parts — each focus on distinct areas of e-government and more. AMS and Microsoft each sponsored the entire segments, which includes the remaining two parts, including: Part II Digital Democracy, Electronic Government and Business Regulation, and Management Administration; and Part III Taxation and Revenue, Education, and GIS and Transportation.
