New Zealand utility company uses ESRI’s GIS Software to build asset management system

< 1 Minute Read

ESRI, the world’s leading geographic information system (GIS) software developer, announced that DELTA Utility Services of New Zealand has successfully rolled out a GIS implementation using ESRI’s GIS software as its designated platform to build its asset management system. With a recent company acquisition, DELTA inherited a GIS incompatible with its existing legacy system. Faced with maintaining two outmoded systems, the company decided that the best course of action would be to implement a new GIS, capable of serving as a platform to build its new, corporate wide asset management system. GIS software products selected by DELTA include ArcView for analytical and modelling purposes, ArcPad for collecting field data, and ArcIMS for data distribution over the Internet. About 40 people are currently using the Internet/Intranet capabilities to view GIS data. Other components include Miner & Miner’s ArcFM Designer, offering utility-specific tools to help maintain and support design and planning of the network. With DELTA’s new ESRI-based GIS, it has implemented a system capable of expanding with the company’s growing needs.
