Nepal: In a Nepalese first, the Election Commission (EC) of Nepal has developed a GIS map of all the polling stations. The effort is aimed at conducting free and fair voting in the Constituent Assembly election.
The EC has generated GIS images of 10,017 polling stations across the country. The GIS map includes details about the road accessibility, state of infrastructure, means of communications, possibility of helicopter landing and the geographical details in and around the polling stations. The satellite maps were obtained from Google Earth.
