Motorola Automotive Ships five millionth GPS receiver

Motorola has shipped its five millionth GPS receiver module from its production plant in Seguin, Texas. The five million units shipped to date encompass sales to automotive manufacturers including BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors, Jaguar, Nissan, Opel, Renault and Volvo. Motorola also supplies GPS systems to Delphi, Samsung, Siemens, Autoliv and Visteon among others.

Motorola’s GPS technology can be found in cellular handsets, GPS accessories and a variety of applications for the automotive marketplace including in-vehicle and hand-held telematics systems. Motorola has supplied many of its GPS receivers to automotive telematics suppliers and users. The company also supplies GPS equipment to land surveyors, GIS professionals, marine and land navigators, the timing community, cellular infrastructure suppliers, intelligent transportation systems users and vehicle tracking systems.
