Nepal: A team from the Qatar Computing Research Institute’s UAViators Humanitarian UAV Network, which has been carrying out surveillance data collection and mapping work in Nepal following the earthquake of April 2015, is calling on more operators to take their systems to the Asian country.
Stressing that UAViators has been working alongside various organisations to develop a code of conduct for the use of UAVs in humanitarian operations, Patrick Meier, director of social innovation at the institute and founder of UAViators, said that more work needs to be done in Nepal to assess the true degree of the effects caused by the disaster.
