Robe River GIS department, a Division Of Mining Giant Rio Tinto has commissioned Micronics Pty to design a special Version of its TUSANI™ GPS for its field Geologists using ArcPad from ESRI on its ruggedised 2007 Compaq based data logger.
A special version TUSANI was created code-named “ Rio Tinto”
The prototype allows hand free operation of Micronics 2007 ruggedized data logger when picking up geological samples and allows Field personnel to enter and leave their 4 wheel drives up to 40 times a day without removing their DGPS. A low profile antenna is part of an AKUBRA leather hat. Special connectors allow quick disconnect if an operator forgets to unplug the unit. Clients can pre-order units for a commercial version the “Warrnambool” model which is supplied with an iPAQ embedded in a sealed ruggedised case and any other special client requirements.
