Meteorlogix provides American Red Cross with advanced storm tracking and alerting system

< 1 Minute Read

Meteorlogix recently provided the disaster relief organization with MxVision StormSentry™ –– a sophisticated storm tracking and alerting system –– for use in its Washington, D.C., headquarters and at other venues where the Red Cross provides on-site support, to monitor and predict weather patterns. MxVision StormSentry users can set their computer’s toolbar to provide one-click access to all pertinent weather information in seconds.

“The use of MxVision StormSentry increases our ability to determine how, when and where to allocate our relief services,” said Greg Tune, disaster assessment, GIS associate, American Red Cross. “Better and more accurate weather information from Meteorlogix gives the Red Cross more lead time, allowing us to plan accordingly, and to quickly and efficiently provide relief for people affected by disasters.”

MxVision StormSentry analyzes Meteorlogix enhanced NEXRAD radar data and not only determines how fast a storm is moving, but which cities are in the path of the storm. In addition, the system sounds an audible alarm when a National Weather Service watch, warning or advisory is issued and displays the critical area on a map.
